Future Simple

We use the Future Simple to talk about:

– DECISIONS TO DO SOMETHING AT THE TIME OF SPEAKING

He will call you tomorrow.

I won’t come to the meeting tomorrow.

Will you have some free time later to discuss the project?

* NOTE: Do not use will to talk about what you have already decided or planned to do. For this we us Present Continuous or going to.

I’m going skiing this weekend. (not: I will go skiing)

They are going to get married this spring. (not: They will get married)

– MAKING PREDICTIONS

I think they’ll offer Joe the position of supervisor, he’s been here the longest.

Jeff won’t be happy when he sees what you’ve done to his car.

* NOTE: We can also use going to to make predictions.

Jeff isn’t going to be happy when he sees what you’ve done to his car.
